Mayor Proclaims March, Marion Community Credit Union Month
FOR IMMEDIARE RELEASE
March 5, 2010

Marion, Ohio- Marion Mayor Scott Schertzer has proclaimed March to be Marion Community Credit Union Month throughout Marion, Ohio.

As part of Marion Community Credit Union’s (MCCU) year-long 50th anniversary celebration the Mayor’s proclamation comes in the month (March) that marked the opening of the credit union 50 years ago.

A planning committee including Glenn Coble, Jennifer Croskey, Dan Dreher, Phylis Hendrix, Vidya Iyengar, Phil Reid, Roxanne Somerlot, Steve Somerlot and Diane Watson, planned and organized the celebration.
Events with area businesses, organization and media are planned throughout the year.
A dinner to honor the credit union’s earliest members and a sock hop for members and their families has already taken place. Other events planned include an ice cream social, an event at the Marion Union Station, musical concerts and a Gala dance to wrap up the year.
The Palace Theater will be host to several events which MCCU will sponsor including its annual meeting and “Music of the 60’s” concert March 13th, a free community concert on April 7th by the United States Army Field Band and a Gala dance to end the celebration in August.
The celebration is offering entertainment for Marion and Morrow County residents at little or no cost. It is intended to magnify MCCU’s commitment to the community and the credit union movement.
